THERIZINOSAUR – Mystery of the Sickle-Claw Dinosaur
An exhibit of the newest and strangest
dinosaur in all of North America. THERIZINOSAUR – Mystery of the
Sickle-Claw Dinosaur has been developed from a southern Utah excavation by
MNA’s Colbert Curator of Paleontology Dr. David D. Gillette. Exhibit
visitors will experience scientific inquiry at its best, as the exhibit
asks questions, but leaves the answers about this enigmatic, one-ton
creature to the visitors’ critical thinking.
Through August 9, 2008
Many Colored Weaves – Navajo
textiles from the Collection of the Museum of Northern Arizona
Flagstaff Cultural Partners (FCP) and the
Museum of Northern Arizona (MNA) have joined forces to present a new
exhibition at the Coconino Center for the Arts this summer. Many Colored
Weaves, features selections from MNA’s collection of Navajo textiles.
Through November 9, 2008
Merrill Mahaffey: Interior Landscapes of the West, a Fifty-Year
Retrospective
The exhibit is a
unique inquiry into the meaning of western landscapes and their role in
American culture at the beginning of the twenty-first century. Mahaffey’s
view of the natural world as an expression of the creative power of the
universe is paired with his analytical temperament and love of science and
geological formations. He revels in realism, but stops short of
photographic detail, infusing color and softening lines to express his
feelings. His work seems to say, “Look here. This is what is essential.
This viewpoint, right here, has meaning.”

our nocturnal landscape. In this free program for the whole family, Dr.
Larry Stevens will introduce strange creatures from the Flagstaff area and
describe how they live. Afterwards, weather permitting, see some of these
animals using an ultraviolet light set up outside the Museum.
