2019 Camps for Ages 11-14

Bryce and Zion Exploration (overnight camping)
Hike, splash, swim, and explore Bryce and Zion National Parks, magical and surreal destinations for the adventurer in all of us.  Learn about the geology behind these crown jewels of our nation's park system. On the MNA campus Monday (9-4), in the field Tuesday through Friday.

San Juan River (overnight camping)
Raft the mighty San Juan from Bluff to Mexican Hat, Utah.  Explore the archaeology, geology, flora and fauna of southern Utah, and experience the sights and sounds of Canyon Country on this special adventure. On the MNA campus Monday (9-4), in the field Tuesday through Friday.

Lunar Landers
Come fly drones, visit astronaut testing sites, build Lego robots, camp out, check out space through telescopes and get a chance to win a national competition celebrating the anniversary of the Apollo moon landing. Includes optional camp out at the Museum on Thursday night.

Arizona Adventure
Get ready for outdoor fun! Join us for bicycling, hiking, swimming, and exploring our local mountains, trails, and lakes. Bring your bike and a sense of adventure.

Chaco Canyon (overnight camping)
Architecture, art, astronomy and agriculture make this national park the largest prehistoric trading center in North America. We will explore backcountry trails, the numerous great houses and learn about the night sky in camp. On the MNA campus Monday (9-4), in the field Tuesday through Friday.

Flag Shakes (*ages 11-17)
Guided by professional theatre artists of the Flagstaff Shakespeare Festival, students receive an intensive week of training in Shakespeare’s classical poetic dramas as well as contemporary acting methods, stage combat and improvisation. Workshops and collaborative ensemble-driven exploration culminate in a public performance at the museum for friends and family .

Zuni Culture (overnight camping)
Traveling through the beautiful landscapes of New Mexico, we will explore the ruins of ancestral Puebloans, sleep among the piñon trees, and cook Dutch oven meals over an open fire in El Morro National Monument. Visits to a wolf sanctuary and an Eagle rescue are included.  On the MNA campus Monday (9-4), in the field Tuesday through Friday.

Pottery Wheel Basics
Begin with the basics of wheel-throwing and advance into a variety of crafting techniques. You will shape a personal piece to glaze for a one-of-a-kind ceramic creation to take home at the end of the week.
