Ways to Give to MNA
Many MNA friends support the Museum's
general operations to ensure that financial resources are available
for whatever need is greatest. Others target a specific area or
project by supporting research, collections, or education at MNA with
a designated gift.
You can choose to give an outright gift that goes to work immediately,
or choose to fund an endowment that provides resources for the future.
Here are some suggestions to help with your gift planning:
Cash
is simplest and most direct way to give, and you receive an immediate
charitable income tax deduction.
Appreciated securities
or mutual funds, if held at least for one year, enable you to receive
a tax deduction based on its fair market value.
Retirement plan assets
(IRA, 401k, 403b, or other plans) can be designated as a charitable
gift by making MNA a beneficiary in part or in full of your plan.
Life insurance
- an older policy or a new one - by naming MNA as owner/beneficiary,
can establish a future charitable fund. You may also donate a
fully-funded policy that you no longer need.
Bequests
of a specific dollar amount, a percentage of your estate, or remaining
property after all obligations are fulfilled, enable you to retain the
use of your assets or property in your lifetime.
Real estate
- such as your house, vacation home, or investment property - allows
you to preserve your cash assets, receive significant tax and income
advantages, and make a larger charitable gift than anticipated.
Tangible personal property
- artwork, collectibles, jewelry - may benefit the Museum and provide
you with a charitable deduction. Call to find out if your gift can
enhance the Museum's mission.
Talk with your advisor!
As with any important financial or estate planning, decisions made
about long-term charitable giving should be discussed with a trusted
legal or financial professional.
