Ways of Giving

As an MNA friend, you can choose to support the Museum’s general operating fund to give where the need is greatest. You area also able to target a specific area or project by supporting education, research, or collections with a designated gift. An outright gift will go to work immediately, while an endowment gift will provide resources for the future.  Here are some suggestions to further help with your gift planning.

Cash, typically in the form of a check or credit card transaction, is the easiest and most direct way to give, and you have the added benefit of receiving an immediate charitable income tax deduction to the extent allowed by law.

Appreciated securities or mutual funds, if held for at least one year, enable you to receive a tax deduction based on the appreciated fair market value.

Retirement plan assets (IRA, 401k, 403b, or other plans) can be designated as a charitable gift by making MNA a beneficiary in part or in full of your plan.

Life insurance can be set up with MNA as a beneficiary, or you can donate a fully funded policy that you no longer need.

Bequests of a specific dollar amount, a percentage of your estate, or remaining property after all obligations are fulfilled, enable you to retain the use of your assets or property in your lifetime.

Real estate, such as primary residence, vacation home, investment property or undeveloped land can be made as an outright gift, or as part of a retained life estate or other estate planning options.  With either option you are entitled to receive significant tax and income advantages.

Tangible personal property, like artwork, collectibles and jewelry, may benefit the Museum and provide you with a charitable deduction.  Contact us to find out if your personal property gift can enhance the Museum’s mission.

Matching Gifts from your current or former employer are often an excellent way to double your donation.  Some companies even match your volunteer hours with cash. Ask your company’s human resources department for more information.

Why Give

Do you remember what initially drew you to the Museum of Northern Arizona? Was your first visit during one of the vibrant Heritage Festivals? Did you have a child or grandchild attend a summer Discovery class? Or were you simply interested in learning more about the culture and natural history of this unique and amazing region?

By donating today, you will provide the support MNA needs to continue to offer these inspiring and engaging experiences for generations to come.

MNA does NOT receive regular tax-based funding.  We rely on friends like you to keep the museum doors open and continue to provide the community educational programs including our Heritage Festivals, active scientific research, children’s educational Discovery Programs, art and science exhibits and more.
