Discover connections of movement and exchange at the Travel and Trade Table and learn more about Indigenous artistry and tradition at the Katsina Doll Touch Table. Guided tours of the Museum exhibits take place at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Visitors can also dive deeper into the stories of Wagon Road to Mother Road with Route 66 Bingo and a bicycle ride from MNA to Mother Road Brewing. SUMMARY:Apache Crown Dance
DESCRIPTION:Experience the Apache Crown Dance from the Diamond Creek Crown Dancers\nApache believe the Creator sent the Mountain Spirits (Gaan) to the Apache to teach them to live in harmony. The Apache Crown Dance is a representation of the Mountain Spirits and their importance in the Apache culture. Five male dancers perform the dance in a structured group wearing hooded masks with elaborately painted crowns and wielding painted wooden swords during the dance. The dance is performed with drum and song. \n\nDiamond Creek Crown Dancers perform the Crown Dance at tribal gatherings to preserve their culture and at exhibition events to educate the public about the rich history of the Apache people. \nThis program is included with general admission to the Museum. \nObservers should maintain silence and minimize movement during the ceremony to show respect for the dancers\, drummers and singers. Photography is permitted during the dance\, however one should never approach\, touch or request photographs with the dancers.

Sugar skulls (calaveras de azúcar) are colorful\, whimsical confections that celebrate the lives of loved ones who have passed. Made from sugar and decorated with bright designs\, they symbolize the sweetness of life and are often placed on ofrendas (altars) or shared as gifts. Far from somber\, these joyful creations bring warmth\, memory\, and celebration to the season. \nMaster decorators will be on hand to help you adorn your own sugar skull to take home. The Sugar Skull Decorating workshops are perfect for kids and adults. You must purchase a $10 ticket in advance for each participant.
