The Museum of Northern Arizona is surrounded by beautiful nature trails. Walk along the rim or wander in the peaceful canyon bottom of the Rio de Flag right outside of our doorstep. Connect to the Flagstaff Urban Trail System and stroll in the cool shade of the Ponderosa Pine forest.
The Museum's Nature Trail travels along a shallow canyon carved by the Rio de Flag through the lava flow that covered much of the Flagstaff area 6 million years ago. Open from dawn to dusk, the trail is a half a mile in length. Maps can be picked up at the front desk.
MNA offers docent-led Rio walks in the summer. From May through September, Rio de Flag walks are held twice a month on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month at 10 am. See the Calendar for the current schedule.
The Arizona Watchable Wildlife Experience has created a narrated trail guide for the Museum's section of the Rio de Flag.
