Details & Itinerary:

The North Rim and the Kaibab Plateau form an incredible landscape and rich panorama of structural and erosional geology, biological diversity, regional history and prehistory. Join MNA guides and Grand Canyon experts, Helen Ranney and Lisa Kearsley for an in-depth exploration of the area through a series of day hikes. Trek through the forest on the Cape Final and Widforss trails, traverse a section of the Arizona Trail and hike part of the North Kaibab trail for unparalleled panoramic viewpoints. In addition, we will have some time to explore Lees Ferry on our travel days.  Through these hikes you will have the opportunity to experience personally the unique character of the North Rim. Dinners at the lodge and evenings at the cabins will provide us time to connect and reflect on our days’ adventures. Weather information and equipment recommendations will be provided prior to our trip.

What to expect:

We will be traveling by 12 passenger van leaving from and returning to MNA. The hiking trails in the area vary from well-developed to primitive with a distances of 4 to 10 miles roundtrip at elevations of 8000-9000 ft. Our accommodations will be in the North Rim Lodge’s Pioneer cabins with no host dinners at the Lodge restaurant. September is usually one of the most pleasant times of the year in northern Arizona although it is important to be prepared for possible extremes. Participants should be comfortable hiking and walking for much of each day. You will be asked to provide your health history and information prior to the trip.
