A tour of the Museum of Northern Arizona (MNA) is an ideal introduction to the arts, cultures, and sciences of the Colorado Plateau. Group rates and docent-led tours are available for groups of all ages. Email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 928-774-5211, x275 to arrange for any of the following tours. Custom tours are also available.
Trained docents lead the way through the Museum, telling stories and providing insights. These tours can range from a quick overview of the entire museum to deeper explorations of areas of interest to your group, whether that’s learning about the many Indigenous cultures of the Colorado Plateau, the fascinating geologic formations, the evidence of dinosaurs and other ancient creatures that roamed here, or the pottery, jewelry, textiles, and other arts.
Did you know that MNA’s collections were identified as a National Treasure in 2007? Come behind the scenes to see why these holdings have national significance and hear how these “stored” objects and specimens are used and protected. Each tour focuses on an aspect of the collections, such as archaeology, archives, botany, ethnology, fine art, or paleontology, These tours have limited capacity.
Available from June through August, these outdoor tours introduce visitors to the plant life of the region and the many ways people grow and use plants. Several tours are available depending on your interests. Visit an ethnobotanical garden where more than 100 species of Native plants grow, walk through a verdant canyon with a native plant expert, or get some hands-on instruction on gardening techniques. Plants vary through the season.
