The Artist Hopid Unveiled exhibition explores the bold vision of Artist Hopid, a groundbreaking collective formed in 1973 by Hopi artists Michael Kabotie, Delbridge Honanie, Terrance Talaswaima, Neil David Sr., and Milland Lomakema.

Working at a moment of cultural change, these artists created a new visual language, one that spoke directly to audiences beyond Hopi communities while remaining deeply rooted in Hopi life. Drawing from farming traditions, Katsina figures, ancestral imagery, and everyday life, their work blends humor, movement, and meaning with striking contemporary styles.

The art on exhibition is curated from MNA’s fine art collection and includes recent additions of Artist Hopid works. Artist Hopid Unveiled is presented in the museum’s Courtyard Gallery in three separate thematic installations: Tending the Source from May 16-September 8, 2026; Ancestral Echoes from September 12-December 6, 2026; and Enduring Images from December 11, 2026-April 30, 2027.

The Museum of Northern Arizona extends its gratitude to the Terra Foundation for American Art for support of the Artist Hopid Unveiled exhibition.
