Cindy Smith

Cindy Smith (Hopi/Akimel O’odham) is from the Bamboo/Reed Clan (Paaqupwungwa), of The Village of Walpi, located on First Mesa.  She currently serves as a Materials Management Director in the Supply Chain organization at Arizona Public Service.

Over the course of her 32-plus year tenure, Cindy has held various positions at Palo Verde Generating Station and APS. After successful completion of the certified Institute of Nuclear Operations (INPO) program to operate at a nuclear facility, Cindy was awarded the opportunity to become one of the first female Auxiliary Operators at Palo Verde. After spending ten years at Palo Verde, Cindy joined the Transmission and Distribution branch of APS as a Project Manager.  Cindy managed large scale customer projects including the first windfarm in Northern Arizona; the electrical distribution construction for the Goodyear Ballpark (spring training home to the Cleveland Guardians); The Cancer Treatment Center in Goodyear, AZ; and a large portion of master-planned communities in the Metropolitan Phoenix area. She also represented APS in establishing key relationships with the Homebuilders Association of Central Arizona.  In 2014, Cindy was promoted to Manager of Customer Construction and was responsible for over $300 million in electric infrastructure construction. In 2015, she became the Director of Construction, overseeing new construction in APS’s territory throughout the State of Arizona. Her current role as a Director in Supply Chain, affords her new challenges to successfully navigate APS through a global supply chain crisis.

Cindy enjoys spending any amount of free time with her four children and five grandchildren. Her hobbies include cooking, decorating, watching football, and traveling.
