Sacha Siskonen, Education Manager
Sacha Siskonen is the Education Manager at MNA in charge of Discovery Camps, field trips, educational outreach and life-long learning. Sacha spent seven years as the Museum Education Curator for the Arizona Historical Society’s Pioneer Museum and Riordan Mansion State Historic Park. She began her career in academia studying English and Creative Writing at the University of Arizona, Northern Arizona University, and the University of Illinois-Chicago where she earned a Master’s degree in English and taught college-level composition, literature and creative writing classes. After graduating and returning to Flagstaff, Sacha discovered her love of informal museum education at AHS’s Pioneer Museum where she dipped candles, made jump ropes and churned a lot of butter. Sacha has also worked as a teacher’s aide in 5th and 6th grade classrooms, as an after-school tutor in elementary schools, and as a Job Coach teaching adult learners employment skills classes. While in school, Sacha studied ekphrastic writing, which is what drew her to MNA’s amazing art collections and education programs. She is excited to be part of MNA’s Public Programs team and learn more about dinosaurs.
