Museum of Northern Arizona
November 3, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The land and resources now known as Wupatki National Monument became a National Park site on Dec. 9, 1924, but have a history much older. Indigenous peoples have been protecting and caring for these lands for time immemorial. Join the National Park Service as it highlights the significance of the people, cultures, plants, animals, rocks, fossils, and historic buildings within the monument. The symposium will include cultural demonstrations, artwork, and science information. Two sessions of talks and discussions will focus on Indigenous perspectives and the monument’s history. We gratefully acknowledge those on whose ancestral homelands we gather, as well as the diverse and vibrant Native communities who continue to make their home here today.
