Join the Museum of Northern Arizona for the Future of the Colorado Plateau Forum: Drought and the Colorado River Tuesday, September 2, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the museum’s Branigar/Chase auditorium. The event is free and the public is invited to participate. Seating is limited and participants are asked to RSVP by calling the museum at (928) 774-5213. The forum is presented in conjunction with Flagstaff’s Colorado River Days.
“This forum is very timely,” said Dr. Robert Breunig, President & CEO of the Museum of Northern Arizona. “In recent weeks, the Southwest’s drought and subsequent decline of water levels at Lake Powell and Lake Mead have made national headlines. Community members and panelists will have the opportunity to discuss the effects of the on-going drought conditions on the people and ecosystems that depend on the river and explore some possible future scenarios for the river and its uses.”
Confirmed panelists include: Arizona State Climatologist Nancy Selover, Hydrologist Tom Myers, Eric Belkner from the Glen Canyon Institute and Dan Bunk from the Bureau of Reclamation.
The Future of the Colorado Plateau is a series of community forums designed to address our region’s environmental and demographic changes. The series enables citizens and experts to contribute their ideas and perspectives on important issues affecting the region, including forest health, water resources, wildlife conservation, energy production and economic sustainability.
