A “CHEERFUL” FUNDRAISER WITH TED DANSON

(Flagstaff, Ariz.)—Save Saturday, November 8 at 6 p.m. for a fun evening to benefit the Museum of Northern Arizona in Flagstaff. Ted Danson of “Cheers” fame will again be “Sam Malone” behind the bar at the Museum. Step up to the bar to chat with him and hear of his fond memories of growing up at MNA, and celebrate the Museum’s 75th anniversary. “Cheers” bloopers and a lounge piano player will add to the fun.

Danson’s versatility makes him one of today’s most accomplished and popular actors. He charmed television audiences worldwide with his portrayal of the tall, dark, and handsome Sam Malone, a role he played for 12 years on NBC’s hit comedy series “Cheers.” Danson, who now resides in L.A., recently stated, “In 1959 my father, Edward B. “Ned” Danson, became the second director of the Museum of Northern Arizona. My family lived in the Homestead on the Museum grounds. In this way, MNA and I grew up together. I am proud to support the continuing mission of the Museum to protect and celebrate the wonderful cultural and scientific treasures of our beloved Colorado Plateau. Please join me and friends of the Museum for a lighthearted celebration of MNA’s 75th birthday.”

An exhibit newly on display, Treasures of MNA: 75 Years of Passion for Discovery, presents artifacts and stories that tell the institution’s multi-faceted history.

Exciting live and silent auctions will offer a wide range of items for guests to bid on, including works of fine art and jewelry by prominent Native American and regional artists, soon to be announced items from Ted Danson, weekend getaways, and a fly-fishing trip and lessons, among many other items—all donated by friends of MNA. Some of the numerous artists represented in these auctions include: Alice Cling, Jeffrey Lunge, Henry Shelton, Joella Jean Mahoney, R.C. Gorman, Edison Cummings, Terry Samples, Bessie Yazzie, Gay Tso,and Susan Kliewer.
