A FLAGSTAFF HOLIDAY PARTY AT THE MUSEUM

(Flagstaff, Ariz.)—Join in a free holiday celebration at the Museum of Northern Arizona’s Annual Community Holiday Party on Saturday, December 6 from 10 a.m. to noon. The Federated Church’s Joyful Ringers perform from 10 to 11 a.m. and Flagstaff Arts and Leadership Academy’s Chorale Ensemble, led by Director Cindy L. Steussy, sing holiday carols throughout the museum’s galleries from 11 a.m. to noon .

Prominent Flagstaff’s authors Richard and Sherry Mangum will sign copies of their new book, Flagstaff Past & Present. Published by Northland Publishing, it takes Flagstaff from its humble origins as a rough and tumble railroad camp to its present as a burgeoning mountain town, and shares the Mangum’s love and knowledge of Flagstaff with others.

The Museum’s free admission on this morning includes entrance to all of the exhibit galleries, including Treasures of MNA: 75 Years of Passion for Discovery and Plesiosaur—Terror of the Cretaceous Sea. Holiday party celebrants will make Plesiosaur pinecone ornaments and Hispanic fiesta flower tissue paper garlands to trim the MNA tree and to take home. Tasty holiday cookies, cider, and hot chocolate add to the fun. Members will be recognized on this day with a 20 percent discount in the Museum Shop.

The Museum of Northern Arizona is celebrating 75 years as a national treasure and one of Arizona’s most important cultural institutions, working to bring the Colorado Plateau to the community and to the world. Located three miles north of historic downtown Flagstaff on Highway 180, it is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
